collaboration. Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential
Functions) - Provide individual counseling, group counseling, case
management, crisis intervention that addresses the goals
established on the treatment plan. - Document services provided in
appropriate client files according to NBH policies and procedures
and standards established by governing bodies. - Comprehensive
understanding of all MN Statutes related to providing services for
the population NBHN serves - Develop comprehensive treatment plans
that meet the individual needs of the client. Treatment plans will
be completed in accordance with NBH policies and procedures and
standards established by governing bodies. - Complete and document
assessments in accordance with NBH policies and procedures and
standards established by governing bodies. - Participate in weekly
staff meetings and supervision meetings. - Conduct weekly
individual supervision meetings with clinicians and interns. -
Responsible for disciplinary action in response to employee
problems, performance or behavior; including but not limited to,
verbal, written and performance improvement plan. - Coordinate care
with outside providers such as court, Department of Corrections,
and other referral sources and provide appropriate information as
requested. - Discharge duties in accordance with contracts,
licensure standards, and NBH policies and procedures. - Exhibits
knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with
co-occurring disorders through continuing education and
implementing skills into all aspects of treatment. - Maintain
current knowledge of site and client activities. - Plan work tasks
to coincide with programming requirements. - Set priorities in
monitoring clients, making house rounds, documentation of pertinent
information and completion of other assignments. - Available, in a
friendly respectful dignified manner, to clients for questions and
other assistance. - Handle multiple tasks simultaneously. - Highly
dependable and can be counted on to work independently, having the
ability to work with little direction. - Maintaining an up-to-date
knowledge of program philosophy and policies and procedures, 245G
requirements, house operations, including client rights and
confidentiality. - Complete intake/admission procedures,
orientation of new clients and co-workers. - Encourage clients to
achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model. -
Serve as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and
opportunities in the community. - Accurate documentation of client
information in the communications log and completion of other
forms. - Clearly understanding the program mission and how his/her
work integrates with and advances the goals of the program. -
Respond to Client conflict resolution, grievances, and clinician
disciplinary issues. - Complete other tasks as assigned by the
supervisor. Effectively problem-solves by: - Using sound decision
making skills, exhibiting good judgment and realistic understanding
of issues. - Objectively documenting client related topics in
client files and communication logs. - Being diplomatic and
exhibiting sensitivity toward other staff and client’s feelings,
needs, values, and opinions. - Taking ownership when solving
problems. - Having a willingness to seek assistance in making
decisions. - Supports mission of working as a team member of
Northstar Behavioral Health by: - Continuously seeking out to
improve by suggesting solutions to operational struggles, through
soliciting input from co-workers including the director. -

Interacting, communicating, and collaborating with team members to
support the mission of NBH. - Demonstrating behavior that shows
he/she is striving to maintain a positive environment by role
modeling appropriate language and using respectful social skills. -
Participates in staff meetings. - Completes clerical assignments
such as faxing, copying programming materials, stocking
packets/forms, typing documents in Word and updating Excel
spreadsheets. - Supports staff and director in making decisions. -
Ability to set boundaries with co-workers and clients. - Laundering
agency linen and miscellaneous items as needed. - Keeps co-workers
informed of all appropriate developments. Attendance: - Adheres to
attendance and absence policies. - Punctual in reporting for work
and shift change reports. - Participates in rotational and/or off -
shift schedules, including a holiday rotation schedule, as
applicable. - Is willing to work additional hours/off - shift as
needed. Requirements: Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum
requirements in terms of educational background, work experience,
licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities) -
Must be licensed by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor - Must be a designated by the
Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and
Drug Counselor Supervisor - Must know and understand the
implications of 245G, sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and
Chapter 260E. - Bachelor degree - Must have 3 or more years
providing chemical dependency counseling - CPR Certification or
attain within 30 days - Must have two years of freedom from
chemical use problems - Must pass a State of Minnesota Background
Check - Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with
acceptable driving record - Ability to use Microsoft office
programs and other computer skills Additional Skills and
Experience: (Preferred or helpful) - Master degree in a human
service field - Specialty training such as DBT-SUD, CBT, MI, etc.
