Job Description Position Summary: The HSE Specialist works with the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Department to plan, direct, and implement Syntegon’s HSE and Quality management programs and to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment. They are responsible for compliance with all safety, environmental and quality regulatory agencies. While having a general knowledge company-wide, this position will focus on compliance monitoring and reporting in all areas of the company. This position would also respond to emergency situations when they arise and will support HSE and Quality operations and staff to foster a zero-tolerance culture and ensure compliance. Essential Functions: Maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems Facilitate organization and leadership development efforts to address the root cause of HSE related issues. Coach management and employees at all levels to ensure compliance with all HSE program expectations and applicable federal & state laws Conducting risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees and suggests risk mitigation strategies through the Job Safety Analysis process Conducting appropriate inspections and audits, and ensuring corrective actions are monitored and documented Completing and documenting all regulatory compliance activities through the HSE Calendar according to regulatory deadlines Responding to and investigating events including injuries and near-miss events. Drive closure of effective corrective / preventive actions, as assigned Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Minimum Associate's Degree Required Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar HSE role Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal HSE regulations Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and work well with others in order to manage projects, meetings Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence people and drive change Has the ability to deliver internal training effectively Familiar with using various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, networking and cloud-based systems.
