• Coordinate planting schedule and daily planting records with Coordinator/Sales Support- Container Production and Nursery Director to assure accurate PotLoc and Container planning.
• Direct and/or perform all cultural practices necessary including: planting planning calendar, receiving planting material, planting, spraying, pruning, irrigation, shearing, planting, weeding, fertilizing and others as directed.
• Provide work direction and training to Nursery Persons, Assistant Nursery Persons, Nursery Helpers and seasonal employees.
• Maintain communication with Manager on all pest or cultural problems.
• Direct or perform all aspects of container growing and shipping operations to insure the delivery of quality nursery container stock in an efficient, timely and safe manner.
• Operate all equipment necessary for all nursery production. May include tractor with dump wagon, skid loader, forklift and any other vehicles pertaining to nursery production.
• Maintain accurate records and complete necessary paperwork in a neat and timely manner.
• Maintain facilities in a neat condition at all times.
• Perform light maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including possible reassignment to other work areas during the off-season or at other times as needed.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma plus two year certificate in horticulture or equivalent required.
  • Two years nursery production experience including two years in a leadership role. Must have strong background and expertise in container production practices including planting, pruning, irrigation, pest control, soils management, space planning, and etc.
  • Requires a valid Class D Minnesota driver's license or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to obtain a chemical applicators license.
  • Strong working knowledge of landscape plant materials commonly found in Minnesota landscapes preferred.
  • MNLA Nursery Professional Certification preferred.
  • Must be accepted as insurable with Bachman's Insurance carrier via semi-annual Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and compliance with Bachman's Safe Driver Standards. - - - - -
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Three years of experience in a nursery or farm production setting including two years of nursery container production experience. Two years of experience as a Nursery Person in Nursery Container Production preferred.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of nursery production equipment including farm tractor, skid loader, forklift, front-end loader, tree spade, semi-tractor/trailer, or others as needed.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective team leadership skills required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and 100 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round.
  • Must be able to stand and/or bend for extended periods of time.BENEFITS:
