This position runs the day-to-day data quality and stewardship efforts, working with the business to identify and address data quality concerns and enhancements on an ongoing basis, while also further developing the Data Steward Community of Practice. The incumbent monitors all aspects of data quality for the organization, engages with Data Stewards to create the necessary corrective plans to improve data quality for critical data elements, as identified by subject matter experts, and works with project teams to profile and baseline data quality when new sources of data are created, combined, or referenced. Regularly reviews and communicates any overall data quality themes to the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Program, Data Owners, Data Stewards, and key business users/stakeholders, soliciting input and support on corrective measures (such as process or system changes), if/when necessary.Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with EIM Program team, Data Owners, Data Stewards, and key business users/stakeholders to define requirements and user stories to improve data quality.
  • Identifies data quality issues by identifying errors and inaccuracies in the systems.
  • Establishes data quality reports and processes to improve accuracy.
  • Follows data security protocols and standards to proactively to prevent data quality issues by identifying frequent user errors.
  • Leads and/or assists with resolving data quality issues through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Develops and revises entries for the overall data dictionary, in coordination with improvements and changes to the data architecture.
  • Recommends consistent business naming standards for use across the organization; develops data definitions, standard calculations, and business rules.
  • Acts as a resource for team member questions on critical data fields and best practices in use and maintenance.
  • Communicates proper understanding and use of metadata requirements for data elements contained within the data warehouse.
  • Works with Data Owners and Data Stewards to regularly review and refine data quality scorecards.
  • Assesses and reports on the quality of data across the organization as needed.
  • Facilitates the documentation and approval of data quality guidelines and targets, data element definitions, and data source documentation.
  • Activates, matures, and leads the Data Stewardship Community of Practice (CoP), scheduling regular meetings, as well as identifying agenda items, demos, and collaboration opportunities.Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Bachelor's degree in information management, computer/information science, business administration, accounting, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Data Management and/or Data Stewardship; preferably in the financial services industry.

    • Ability to create technical processes to manage data quality and other stewardship related activities.
    • Effectively communicates complex information with both internal and external contacts at a variety of organizational levels.
    • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of data management best practices. Ability to recognize and analyze patterns and discrepancies.
    • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
    • Excellent organizational time management, multitasking, and flexible problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently or with a team as needed. Is willing to cross train and cover for others as needed.
    • Knowledge of ad-hoc reporting and analytic tools. Prior experience with Microsoft SQL Management Studio, Excel PowerPivot/PowerQuery, and Power BI is preferred.
    • Ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
    • Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
    • Ability to remain objective in balancing business needs and risk.
    • Valid driver's license.
