Full-Time Director of Early Childhood Formation Job Description
Job Purpose: Supports vision of the parish and ministry of the
pastor by providing organization and leadership for early childhood
formation programs and care to young families. The person in this
position works welcomes work with a highly collaborative formation
staff to guide and support formation of faith for all parishioners
of All Saints in accordance with the principles of formation
articulated by the pastor and the Education and Formation
Commission. Representative Responsibilities Ministry
Responsibilities Plan, implement and evaluate Catechesis of the
Good Shepherd (CGS) program for Early Childhood formation
Pre-school and Kindergarten.
- Work with in supporting childhood faith development.
- Recruit, train, coordinate, and affirm catechists and aides for
CGS in parish and school atriums.
- In consultation with supervisor, serve as a CGS catechist or
aide for parish/school programs. Plan, implement, and develop
programs that serve the spiritual and pastoral needs of families
with small children. Including, but not limited to:
- Direct, evaluate, and maintain curriculum for Baptism
- Provide support and direction to Parochial Vicar responsible
for Infant Baptism preparation and administration.
- Facilitate Baptism preparation for families with children ages
3 to 6.
- Collaborate with mission partners and worship staff to provide
Children's Liturgy of the Word at three Masses most weekends. This
includes recruiting and training mission partners and being a
leader at 3 to 4 liturgies per month.
- Collaborate with formation staff to provide summer formation
experiences (ex: VBS, Totus Tuus)
- Collaborate with appropriate levels of confidentiality with
Community Life Staff to meet the pastoral care needs of young
families. Actively participate as a member of the parish staff to
provide support and formation to parishioners, staff, and mission
partners. Emphasize the parish's vision and the principles of faith
formation through programs and events that foster evangelization,
prayer, sacraments, catechesis, and discipleship. Communicate with
both catechetical leaders and families on a regular basis through a
variety of communication mediums. Administrative Responsibilities
Be a responsible member of the formation team managing shared
resources, budget, and youth protection protocols. Collaborate with
Associate Pastor and office staff to ensure accurate baptismal
documentation. Parish and Community Responsibilities Serve as an
example of Catholic faith to parents, children, and catechists.
Facilitate the development of spiritual growth for students,
catechists and parents through appropriate prayer, liturgy,
service, and celebration. Attend commission and committee meetings
as needed or requested by supervisor or pastor. Actively
participate in parish and staff activities as appropriate. Engage
in ongoing professional enrichment and continuing education
programs. Actively participate in professional organizations
appropriate to the . Job Qualifications Qualifications1.
Demonstrate understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine.2. BA
Religious Education/ Education/Theology or commensurate parish
experience.3. Level I Certification in Catechesis of Good Shepherd
or completion of Level I certification during first 12 months of
employment4. Experience working with young children and with
adults.5. Spanish Language competency a plus6. Ability to
satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and an acceptable
credit report. Mental Demands1. Competency in meeting needs of
position in a flexible schedule environment, including being
present during required core hours.2. Able to develop/maintain a
productive working relationship with supervisor and pastor.3.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work alone without
supervision, obtaining direction when needed.4. Demonstrated
ability to work well with others, maintaining a positive and
helpful attitude even during difficult times.5. Ability to
understand the parish culture and adjust actions to fit that
culture.6. High level of organizational skills to ensure ability to
work under pressure and with interruptions.7. Strong communication
skills, including email/internet literacy and efficiency.8.
Demonstrated competency using technology in communication and
education methods.9. Ability to be pleasant and service-oriented
even when exposed to negative influences.Physical Demands1. Work 40
or more hours per week.2. Lift and move using proper techniques up
to 15 pounds.3. Able to maintain a sitting position for long
periods of time.4. Able to work productively in a CGS atrium.
